Alexandru Sorin Ciobanu Al Rufei at the piano, reflecting on music and learning.

One of the first questions I ask a student, whether they are just beginning or already have some musical experience, is the question above.

“Why Do You Want to Learn to Play the Piano?”

Of course, the answers belong to my students and many others. I have asked this question countless times to people around me (regardless of the instrument they play), and, in turn, I still ask it myself, even now, at the age of 43.

Keep asking yourself this question. You will find the answer on your own, and I hope that, even if only a little, I can inspire and guide you toward that answer, whatever it may be.

In the next article, we will take this conversation a step further and discover why the answer to this question can completely change the way you learn music and, perhaps, even the way you see yourself.
